Proverbs Day 12

Proverbs 2:9(KJV):

"Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path."

Thought for the day:

Let us look at these three words: righteousness, judgment and equity.

(1.) First, the Bible definition of righteousness means "to be in right standing with God."  This is only possible through one way -- we must accept Jesus, God's son, as our savior.  We must repent of our sins and receive God's pardon for those sins through what Jesus did on the cross. When He died in our place on the cross, and was buried and rose from the dead the third day, this sacrifice made it possible for us to receive eternal life. When we yield our life to Christ, it is at that moment that we become righteous (or become in right standing) with God.  This is a gift of God and has nothing to do with what we have done or have not done.  We are now righteous in God's sight.  We are now just as pure as God's own Son, Jesus. The only requirement to maintain this righteousness is that we stay in a right relationship with Christ, by faith in what He has done for us. We are not saved by works, but by the grace of God.  However, good works will be the evidence that we are saved.  Good works follow our conversion, but do not attain eternal life.
