Proverbs Day 29
Proverbs 4:5-9(KJV):
"Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. 9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee."
Thought for the day:
The book of Proverbs is not only a book of wisdom, it also is poetically written in many places. Here, wisdom is referred to in the feminine gender. She (wisdom) is to be sought, to be embraced, to be loved, to be exalted, and to be the principal thing,. This symbolism of wisdom is much like a man who is seeking the attention of a woman he loves. Wisdom is not to be forgotten nor forsaken; just as when a suitor gets the woman he loves to marry him, he must be diligent to pay attention to her needs and not lose her through neglect.
The place to find wisdom is in God's Word. That is also the place where we shall be able to keep her and forsake her not. Many people ask to be kept safely by God and pray to that end, yet prayer alone is not enough; we must find and keep the Word of God.
