The 2012 London Olympic Games

The 2012 London Olympics started on July 27th, the day our family arrived home from a camping trip from Yeosu EXPO.  Upon arriving home, I turned on the television.  The opening ceremony had just ended.  I went to bed thinking about the exciting Olympic Games that night.

During summer vacation, I watched the Korean athletes' Olympic Games and cheered loudly everyday. I will introduce three most impressive Olympic Korean athletes. First, I'll write about Ki Bo Bae.  She is a Korean archer. She got two gold medals in this Olympics:  One in the women’s team and the other in the women’s single.  I saw her game on TV, the women’s single archery gold medal match's shoot-off which was really close.  The wind was blowing hard.  However, Ki Bo Bae shot eight points and she won the gold medal. I screamed with joy when she won.  It is thrilling to watch the archer's arrow bounce off the bow.

Second, I want to write about Yang Hak Seon. He is a Korean artistic gymnast. His family is really poor. While other athletes eat and train well, he wasn't able to eat and train as much as he wanted. Despite all these difficulties, he made a high difficulty move called 'Hak Seon’ (spinning three times in the air). Only he could succeed to spin three times in the air before landing. I was amazed to see his perfect jump. He got a gold medal in the game. I was quite surprised to see where he lived, too. He lives in a tent with his mom and dad.  Yang Hak Seon said he wanted to buy a house for his family.  It's really touching to hear him say that. Eventhough he was poor, he trained hard and got the gold medal. His story is really impressive.

The third athlete is Jang Mi-Ran. She is Korean weightlifter. She was a gold medalist in the 2008 Olympics.  She didn't get any medals in this Olympics. The reason is the traffic accident she had last winter and had a serious surgery.  The traffic accident's effect on her was terrible.  She couldn't lift the weights she had lifted easily before the accident. However, she entered this Olympics to leave one more ticket for another Korean athlete to enter the 2016 Olympics. Eventhough she had a traffic accident, she attended the Olympics for our country, Korea. I will never forget her love for Korea.

In this Olympics, there was too much wrong refereeing like the accident of Park Tae-hwan or the odd accident of Shin A-lam.  There were lots of unfair refereeing, but our country ranked 5th in the Olympics with thirteen gold medals, eight silver medals, and seven bronze medals.  I am so proud of all the athletes who had trained so hard for Korea. This summer was really hot but I enjoyed the hot weather shouting and cheering for the London Olympics.  The 2012 London Olympics was awesome!
